In today's competitive landscape, maintaining market presence without a certified, high-quality product can be challenging. Obtaining a BIS license may also be essential for selling products in the Indian market. To achieve BIS certification and ensure product quality, manufacturers must adhere to the specified Indian standards.
Lets delve deeper into IS 13095:2020 for butterfly valves.
IS 13095:2020 pertains to Butterfly valves designed for general purposes. This standard is applicable to both double-flanged and wafer types of metal-seated, resilient-seated valves made of cast iron, ductile iron, and carbon steel, as well as lined butterfly valves. These valves can be operated manually, pneumatically, hydraulically, or electrically.
As Per IS 13095: 2020, Butterfly Valves for General Purposes are classified based on the following factors.
(A) Service Application: Tight shut-off, Regulating, Low Leakage, and Vacuum condition
(b) Nominal Sizes
Group | Nominal Sizes (mm) |
---|---|
Group I | DN 40 upto and including DN 300 |
Group II | DN 350 upto and including DN 600 |
Group IV | DN 1400 upto and including DN 2000 |
(c) Nominal Pressure: PN 0.25, PN 0.6, PN 1.0, PN 1.6, PN 2.5 and PN 4.0
(d) Class Designation: Class 125/Class150/Class 300
(e) End Connections: Double Flanged Valves, Wafer Valves
Valves must be identified by their nominal pressure (PN). Each valve must conform to nominal size, nominal pressure, and class designation. The dimensions of the flanged body end and drillings should adhere to the specified standards. Additionally, the body ends must be compatible with pipe flanges meeting the criteria outlined in the standard.
All valves should function effectively under the specified pressure difference across the valve disc. Any appropriate operator, such as a lever or worm gear traveling nut, may be utilized. Additionally, manufacturers are required to conduct hydrostatic testing on all valves.
The subsequent test must be conducted for Butterfly valves.
Dimensional test
Hydrostatics test
Performance test
Body test
Seat test
Disc strength test
Ensure that tests are conducted in a well-maintained laboratory, following the methods outlined in the standard.
IS 13095: 2020 outlines requirements for labeling and marking. The Standard Mark (ISI Mark) should be affixed to all compliant productions covered by the license. Manufacturers are required to obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to use the ISI Mark. The BIS grants this license following a successful evaluation of manufacturing infrastructure, quality control and testing capabilities, and production processes.
You can also explore information regarding BIS Certification for the following products.
Product Name | IS Number |
---|---|
HDPE PP Woven Sacks | IS 14887:2014 |
HDPE PP Woven Sacks for Packaging Sugar | IS 14968:2015 |
HDPE PP Woven Sacks for Food Grains | IS 16208:2015 |
Acquiring a BIS license requires a comprehensive review of manufacturing infrastructure, quality control abilities, testing resources, and production procedures. This thorough assessment guarantees that products not only adhere to regulations but also prioritize consumer safety and reliability.
