This standard outlines the specifications for hot-rolled steel plates, sheets, and strips utilized in manufacturing agricultural tillage discs.
Hot rolled steel plates, sheets, and strips are categorized into three grades: Grade 1, Grade 2, and Grade 3.
Steel plates, sheets, and strips should originate from steel manufactured via processes such as open hearth, electric, duplex, basic oxygen, or a combination thereof. The steel must be supplied in a killed state. The general requirements for the supply of hot rolled steel plates, sheets, and strips are outlined in IS 8910:1978.
The final product should exhibit a smooth and even surface, devoid of detrimental imperfections like rolled-in scale, blisters, laminations, or pitting. It is essential for the sheet to possess a fine grain structure, falling within a grain size number ranging from 5 to 8. Additionally, the steel plates, sheets, and strips should not exceed a hardness of 220HB.

MARKING
Plates, sheets, and strips should be provided in bundles or coils, each equipped with a metal tag containing the cast number, material grade, and manufacturer's name or trademark. Additionally, the IS1 Certification Mark may be affixed to the material. Manufacturers are required to obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to utilize the standard mark (ISI Mark), with licensing contingent on a successful evaluation of manufacturing infrastructure, production processes, and quality control and testing capabilities conducted during a visit to their manufacturing premises.
