We have crucial announcement concerning the Indian Standard for the Electrical Appliances for Skin or Hair Care (Quality Control) Order, 2023 impacting all current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers.

OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has recently launched the "Electrical Appliances for Skin or Hair Care (Quality Control) Order, 2023."
This order, also known as the 2023 Quality Control Order, will take effect twelve months after its publication in the Official Gazette.
It mandates that all electrical appliances intended for skin and hair care must conform to Indian Standard 302 (Part 2/Sec 23): 2009 and display the Standard Mark. This requires obtaining a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-1 as per Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations from 2018.
It is important to note that this order excludes goods or articles manufactured domestically for export purposes.
Additionally, for micro-enterprises defined under section 2 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, this order becomes effective eighteen months after its publication date. Similarly, for small enterprises, it becomes enforceable fifteen months after publication.
The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the authority responsible for certifying and enforcing compliance for products categorized as Electrical Appliances for Skin and Hair Care.
