Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for the Agro Textiles (Crop Cover and Fruit Skirting Bags) (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024.
BIS Amendment Order for the Agro Textiles (Crop Cover and Fruit Skirting Bags)
OVERVIEW
As per the latest directive from the Ministry of Textiles, the Agro Textiles (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024 has been issued and is set to be implemented starting from July 1, 2024.
This directive specifically applies to products known as Crop Covers and Fruit Skirting Bags. It's important to note that this directive does not encompass items intended for export.
The designated products, Crop Covers and Fruit Skirting Bags, must comply with the applicable Indian Standard IS 16718:2021 (Textiles — Specifications for Polypropylene Spun Bonded Non-Woven Crop Covers and Fruit Skirting Bags used in agriculture and horticulture applications).
Moreover, these products must display the Standard Mark acquired via a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, in accordance with the procedures outlined in Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau of Indian Standards is appointed as the certifying and regulatory authority for the specified products, Crop Covers and Fruit Skirting Bags.
Anyone found violating the provisions of this Order will face penalties as per the regulations stipulated in the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016).
