BIS CERTIFICATION FOR STEEL RIVET BARS IS 1148:2009

In today's competitive landscape, maintaining market presence without a certified, high-quality product can be challenging. Obtaining a BIS license may also be essential for selling products in the Indian market. To achieve BIS certification and ensure product quality, manufacturers must adhere to the specified Indian standards.

Let's delve deeper into at 1148:2009 for steel rivet bars (medium and high tensile) for structural purposes.

This standard outlines the specifications for medium and high tensile rivet bars utilized in structural applications, with diameters reaching up to 40 mm.

IS 8910 outlines the general requirements for supplying rivet bars intended for structural purposes. These bars must be crafted from steel produced through open-hearth, electric, duplex, basic oxygen processes, or a combination thereof. If another process is used, approval from the purchaser is necessary. Steel should be delivered in a semi-killed or killed state. Unless stated otherwise, bars must be provided in hot-rolled conditions. Rivet bars should be meticulously rolled to meet specified dimensions and tolerances, ensuring they are free from surface and internal flaws that could compromise their utility.

TESTS

The subsequent test must be conducted for Steel Rivet Bars.

PACKING AND MARKING:

Rivet bars should be tightly bundled, with each bundle equipped with a metal tag bearing the following details: a) the manufacturer's name or trademark, and b) a cast number or identification mark for traceability to the original cast. Additionally, the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) may be affixed to the material.

Manufacturers are required to acquire a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards in order to utilize the standard mark (ISI Mark). This license is granted following a thorough evaluation of manufacturing infrastructure, production processes, and quality control and testing capabilities during an inspection at the manufacturing premises by the Bureau.
