It should be clear, devoid of adulterants, sediments, suspended matter, or other foreign substances when melted. Additionally, trace amounts of C8-C18 fatty acids may be present in lauric acid. Compliance with the standard's specifications is also necessary.

PACKING AND MARKING

Packing and labeling procedures must adhere to IS 10931:1984 standards. The material should be packaged in suitable containers, subject to agreement between the buyer and seller. These containers must be securely sealed and labeled with essential details including the material name and grade, net weight, batch or lot number, manufacturing date, manufacturer's name, and trademark. Optionally, the container may also bear the ISI Mark.

To utilize the standard mark (ISI Mark), the manufacturer must secure BIS certification for lauric acid from the Bureau of Indian Standards. This certification is granted after a thorough assessment of manufacturing infrastructure, processes, quality control, and testing capabilities conducted during an on-site visit to the manufacturing premises by BIS.
