OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has released an Amendment to the "Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirement of Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021".

This amendment specifically relates to the compulsory registration requirements for CCTV Cameras.

As per the amendment, CCTV Cameras are now listed as S. No. 41 in the Schedule of the "Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021". The essential criteria for CCTV Cameras, as specified in Indian Standard IS 13252: Part 1: 2010, are delineated.

The regulations outlined in this order will be applicable to CCTV Cameras, ensuring compliance with the respective Essential Requirement(s) as specified in the amendment. This enforcement will commence six months after the publication of this notification in the Official Gazette.

Under Scheme II of BIS Conformity Assessment Regulations, 2018, it is imperative to provide test reports from BIS recognized laboratories to acquire authorization for utilizing the Standard Mark.

Ensuring the security of a CCTV system encompasses several critical testing areas and security protocols. These include physical security, access control, network security, software security, and penetration testing, aimed at evaluating resilience against cyber threats and resolving vulnerabilities. These precautions are indispensable for safeguarding sensitive data and maintaining the optimal functionality of the CCTV system.
