BIS Quality Control Amendment Order for the p-Xylene

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has issued an Amendment Order for 2024, titled the p-Xylene (Quality Control) Order, 2021.

Upon its publication in the Official Gazette, this order requires that goods or articles of p-Xylene comply with Indian Standard 17370:2020. These products must display the Standard Mark, obtained through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. It's important to note that this directive excludes goods or articles intended for export purposes.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the authority responsible for certifying and enforcing standards for goods or articles of p-Xylene.

Individuals found violating the provisions of this order will face penalties under the applicable legislation.
