BIS (Quality Control) Amendment Order for the Hydrogenated Rice Bran Fatty Acids

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has introduced an amendment to the Hydrogenated Rice Bran Fatty Acids (Quality Control) Order, 2022, titled the Hydrogenated Rice Bran Fatty Acids (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024.

This amendment is set to take effect on October 24, 2024.

This order applies to products categorized as Hydrogenated Rice Bran Fatty Acids, except for those explicitly intended for export.

To ensure adherence, products related to Hydrogenated Rice Bran Fatty Acids must comply with Indian Standard IS 12361:1988 and display the Standard Mark. Compliance requires obtaining a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-I as outlined in Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The Bureau of Indian Standards serves as the regulatory authority responsible for certifying and enforcing compliance with this order, particularly concerning Hydrogenated Rice Bran Fatty Acids.

Any individual found violating the provisions of this order will be liable for penalties under the relevant legislation.
