Important update: Indian Standard applicable to all current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers under the Quality Control Amendment Order 2024 for the Vinyl Chloride Monomer (Quality Control) Order, 2021.

BIS Quality Control Amendment Order for the Vinyl Chloride Monomer

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has released an Amendment Order for 2024, titled the Vinyl Chloride Monomer (Quality Control) Order, 2020.

Upon its publication in the Official Gazette, this order requires that goods or articles of Vinyl Chloride Monomer comply with Indian Standard 17442:2020. These products must display the Standard Mark, obtained through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. Importantly, this directive excludes goods or articles intended for export.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the authority responsible for certifying and enforcing standards for goods or articles of Vinyl Chloride Monomer.

Individuals found violating the provisions of this order will face penalties under the applicable legislation.
