BIS (Quality Control) Amendment Order for the Rice Bran Fatty Acids

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has unveiled the Rice Bran Fatty Acids (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024, which modifies the existing Rice Bran Fatty Acids (Quality Control) Order, 2022.

This amendment is scheduled to come into force on October 24, 2024.

The regulation applies to products containing Rice Bran Fatty Acids, excluding those intended for export.

To ensure adherence, products containing Rice Bran Fatty Acids must conform to Indian Standard IS 12068:1987 and display the Standard Mark. This involves obtaining a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-I, detailed in Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The Bureau of Indian Standards serves as the certifying and enforcing authority for products governed by this order, particularly Rice Bran Fatty Acids.

Individuals found violating the provisions of this order will face penalties in accordance with the relevant legislation.
