The Ministry of Commerce & Industry has issued a Quality Control Order titled "Helmet for Police Force, Civil Defence and Personal Protection (Quality Control) Order, 2023," which will be effective six months from its publication in the Official Gazette.

Helmets for Police Force, Civil Defence, and Personal Protection must conform to Indian Standard 9562:1980 (Non-metal helmets for Police Force) and bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, as per Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

This Order excludes goods or articles produced domestically with the intention of export.

As per the definitions under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, micro and small enterprises are required to comply with the Order within twelve months and nine months from the date of publication, respectively.
