The primary goal of BIS in hosting this Sports Webinar is to raise awareness about the Indian sports industry. It aims to highlight that around 73 sports goods/products will require mandatory BIS Certification under Quality Control Orders by the end of 2022.
BIS has yet to specify the products subject to mandatory BIS Certification. The Bureau plans to soon issue a Gazette notification, QCO, which will list all Indian Standard numbers alongside product names.
Recognizing the nearly century-old legacy of the Indian sports industry and the importation of sports equipment from over 45 countries, BIS has taken steps to safeguard the Indian public. Approximately 73 sports equipment items will soon be subject to mandatory BIS Certification, ensuring consumers in India receive safe and high-quality products.
