It addresses the design, construction, inspection, and testing aspects of finned type heat exchangers used for both heating and cooling applications within room air conditioners.

CLASSIFICATION BY CONSTRUCTION METHOD

Heat exchangers are categorized based on their construction techniques as follows:

1. Fin pack with collar and tube type, and

2. Micro channel tube with continuous fin type.

TESTS

The subsequent test must be conducted for Finned type heat exchanger.

• Leak test

• Burst test

• Fatigue strength test

• Corrosion Resistance test

Every finned type heat exchanger for room air conditioners must be labeled with the specified information outlined in the standard. Additionally, the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) can be affixed to each finned type heat exchanger for room air conditioners.

Adhering to the specifications outlined in this standard enables the product to be eligible for certification under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, and its associated regulations. Products meeting these requirements may bear the Standard Mark (ISI Mark). Manufacturers are required to obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to utilize the standard mark.
