The material should exist as dark red amorphous powder or granules primarily comprising phosphorus and should be visibly free from contamination. When subjected to the specified procedures outlined in the standard, it must meet the specified requirements. Additionally, when tested using the prescribed method, it must demonstrate absence of white phosphorus.

A well-maintained laboratory is necessary for conducting the various tests in accordance with the methods outlined in the standard.

Each container must have clear markings indicating:

• The material's name

• Manufacturer's name and, if applicable, a recognized trade-mark

• Caution label 'Flammable' with the relevant symbol for labelling dangerous goods

• The substance should be enclosed in tightly sealed containers.

Packaging and labeling must adhere to Indian standards. The Standard Mark (ISI Mark) should be applied on each package, ensuring that the product meets all specified requirements. Manufacturers are required to obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to utilize the Standard Mark (ISI Mark), which is granted upon a successful evaluation of manufacturing infrastructure, quality control and testing capabilities, and production processes.
