The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued an amendment to the quality control order titled the "Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products (Quality Control) Amendment Order for the year 2024."

This amendment order is set to come into effect on September 26, 2024.

Previously, under the Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products (Quality Control) Order of 2023, specific exemptions were granted to small and micro enterprises defined by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006. These exemptions have now been prolonged until December 26, 2024, for small enterprises and until March 26, 2025, for micro enterprises.

According to the Order, all items associated with Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products must conform to Indian Standard 1254:2007, specifically addressing "Corrugated Aluminium Sheet." These products are required to display the Standard Mark and obtain a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-1 as outlined in Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

It is important to emphasize that this Order excludes goods or articles produced domestically for export purposes.
