Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for the Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products (Wrought aluminium and aluminium alloys, forging stock and forgings for general engineering purposes) (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024.

OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued an amendment to the quality control order titled the "2024 Amendment for Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products (Quality Control)."
This amendment order is set to take effect on September 26, 2024.
Under the Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products (Quality Control) Order of 2023, specific exemptions were granted to small and micro enterprises as defined by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006. These exemptions have now been extended until December 26, 2024, for small enterprises and until March 26, 2025, for micro enterprises.
As per the revised order, all items related to Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products must conform to the relevant Indian Standard 734:1975, specifically addressing "Wrought aluminium and aluminium alloys, forging stock, and forgings for general engineering purposes." These products must bear the Standard Mark and obtain a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-1 as detailed in Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018
It is important to highlight that this Order excludes goods or articles manufactured domestically intended for export purposes.
The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the authority responsible for certifying and enforcing standards for Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products as specified in this Order.
Any person found contravening the provisions of this order will face penalties under the applicable legislation.
