OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has introduced the Quality Control Order for Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) Homopolymers in 2024, scheduled to come into effect 180 days after its publication in the Official Gazette.

This directive pertains to Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) products, excluding those designated for export.

To meet quality standards, all Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) products must comply with Indian Standard IS 17658:2021, titled "Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) Homopolymers Specification." They must also display the Standard Mark acquired under a license issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards, following Scheme-I in Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is assigned the responsibility of certifying and enforcing quality standards for Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) products.

Those failing to comply with this order will face penalties as specified in the relevant legislation.
