BIS (Quality Control) Amendment Order for the Vinyl Acetate Monomer

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has issued the Vinyl Acetate Monomer (Quality Control) Amendment Order of 2024.

Starting from March 31, 2025, this order is applicable to Vinyl Acetate Monomer products, except those meant for export.

Products made from Vinyl Acetate Monomer must comply with Indian Standard IS 12345:1988 and display the Standard Mark obtained through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, following Scheme-I outlined in Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations from 2018.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is appointed as the authority responsible for certifying and enforcing standards for Vinyl Acetate Monomer.

Non-compliance with this order may result in penalties under the relevant legislation.
