This Indian Standard was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards subsequent to the approval of the draft by the Textile Division Council, as finalized by the Man-Made Fibres, Cotton, and Their Products Sectional Committee. The standard outlines specifications for all categories of virgin polyester fully drawn yarns (FDY) intended for diverse applications.

The FDY must satisfy the construction and performance specifications outlined in the standard. Additionally, the polyester FDY may adhere to the ecological criteria delineated in the standard. The yarn must be devoid of significant imperfections. Fully drawn yarn (FDY) will be categorized as full dull, semi-dull, bright, or super bright based on its luster and must comply with the standard's stipulations when tested according to the method delineated in Annex G of the standard.

PACKING AND MARKING

Packaging and labeling procedures must align with IS 17261:2022 guidelines. Polyester FDY should be wound onto bobbins or cheeses, with each bobbin/cheese containing a maximum of 14 kg of yarn. Every carton containing FDY must display the specified information as per the standard.

If the product aligns with the specifications of this standard, it may qualify for certification under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, and the corresponding regulations. Such certified products may display the Standard Mark (ISI Mark). Manufacturers are required to secure a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to utilize the standard mark (ISI Mark), which is granted following a comprehensive evaluation of manufacturing infrastructure, quality control, testing capabilities, and production processes.
