This standard outlines the specifications for various types of 100% polyester spun single, double, and multifold yarns crafted from virgin polyester fibers.

The single and double (two-fold) yarns, composed entirely of virgin polyester fiber cut staples, should conform to the standard's structural and performance criteria. To verify fiber purity, the polyester fiber's isophthalic acid content must be nil, as determined by the method outlined in Annex C of IS 16481.

PACKING AND MARKING

The polyester spun yarn must be wound onto paper cones, bobbins, or cheeses employing standard packing techniques, as agreed upon by both the buyer and seller.

Adhering to the stipulations of this standard allows for potential certification under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 and its associated regulations. Products meeting these criteria may bear the Standard Mark (ISI Mark). Manufacturers are required to secure a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to utilize the standard mark (ISI Mark), which is granted following a comprehensive evaluation of manufacturing infrastructure, quality control, testing capabilities, and production processes.
