In today's competitive landscape, maintaining market presence without a certified, high-quality product can be challenging. Obtaining a BIS license may also be essential for selling products in the Indian market. To achieve BIS certification and ensure product quality, manufacturers must adhere to the specified Indian standards.
Let's delve deeper into at IS 2080:1980 for Stabilized Hydrogen Peroxide.
IS 2080:1980 addresses Stabilized Hydrogen Peroxide. This standard specifies its use primarily as an oxidizing and bleaching agent in various industries, including disinfection. Over time, hydrogen peroxide usage has expanded to include other sectors such as chemicals, electronics, paper, cosmetics, and more. Additional requirements specific to these industries are outlined in this standard.
This standard outlines the requirements and procedures for sampling and testing stabilized hydrogen peroxide.
The material will be categorized into four grades as outlined below:
Grade 1:of nominal strength 50.0% by mass
Grade 2:of nominal strength 35.0% by mass
Grade 3:of nominal strength 6.0% by mass
Grade 4:of nominal strength 3.0% by mass
The substance must exist as a clear, colorless liquid, free from suspended impurities and dust particles. Upon testing as per the prescribed method, the material's strength should not be below 50.0% (m/m) for Grade 1, 35.0% (m/m) for Grade 2, 6.0% (m/m) for Grade 3, and 3.0% (m/m) for Grade 4. Additionally, it must comply with the standard's requirements.
The subsequent test must be conducted for Stabilized Hydrogen Peroxide.

Strength test
Stability test
Acidity test
Residue on Evaporation
Residue on Ignition
Test for Iron, Copper, Lead
Packaging and labeling will comply with IS 2080:1980. The material will be packed in bottles or carboys as mutually agreed upon by the purchaser and supplier. All containers must be dry and clean. They will display the required information specified in this standard in a clear and permanent manner.
The ISI Mark will be applied to the product's container if the material meets all specification requirements. Manufacturers need to obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to utilize the standard mark (ISI Mark). This license is granted after evaluating manufacturing infrastructure, quality control, testing capabilities, and production processes.
Acquiring a BIS license requires a comprehensive review of manufacturing infrastructure, quality control abilities, testing resources, and production procedures. This thorough assessment guarantees that products not only adhere to regulations but also prioritize consumer safety and reliability.
