BIS CERTIFICATION FOR STYRENE VINYL BENZENE IS 4105:2020

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has issued Quality Control Orders for styrene (vinyl benzene) in 2002. According to this directive, obtaining BIS certification for styrene (vinyl benzene) is mandatory. Styrene (vinyl benzene) must adhere to IS 4105:2020 and display the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, as per Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations 2018.

PACKING AND MARKING
Packaging and labeling procedures will align with IS 4105:2020 guidelines. It's imperative that all containers are dry, clean, and devoid of styrene-soluble substances, ensuring leakproof integrity. Containers must be tightly sealed, shielded from light and heat, and stored in a cool environment.
Each container must display the material's name and grade, manufacturer's name and trademark, batch number, manufacturing date, net and gross weight, and inhibitor content. Additionally, the container may feature the Standard Mark (ISI Mark).
Manufacturers are required to obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to utilize the standard mark (ISI Mark) for styrene (vinyl benzene). The Bureau of Indian Standards will grant this license following a thorough evaluation of manufacturing infrastructure, processes, quality control, and testing capabilities conducted during an on-site visit to the manufacturing premises.
