We have crucial announcement concerning the Indian Standard for the Steel and Steel Products (Sign-plates, name-plates, address-plates and similar plates, numbers, letters and other symbols of tin plate and tin free steel) (Quality Control) Order, 2024, impacting all current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers.

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Steel has issued the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2024, which will be enforced upon its publication in the Official Gazette.

This order applies to steel and steel products, specifically sign-plates, name-plates, address-plates, and similar items, including numbers, letters, and other symbols made from tin plate or tin free steel.

However, it does not apply to steel and steel products intended for export that comply with foreign specifications.

The specified goods and articles must be produced using tin plate and tin free steel as raw materials. The Bureau of Indian Standards has been assigned as the authority responsible for certifying and ensuring compliance with this Order.

Any breach of this Order may result in penalties under section 29 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016).
