IS 1381 (Part 1): 2003 outlines criteria and dimensions for a globally recognized range of conical flasks, as well as flat-bottom and round-bottom flasks, designed for general laboratory use. These flasks are intended for immediate utilization within a laboratory setting, seamlessly integrating with other equipment for various laboratory tasks and facilitating the creation of additional products.

Flasks should be constructed from borosilicate glass 3.3, following ISO 3585 standards, and should be devoid of noticeable flaws and internal tension that could hinder their functionality. When positioned on a flat surface, the flasks must remain upright without wobbling or rotating. Flask dimensions must align with the relevant standard specifications. It's essential to maintain a laboratory equipped with necessary apparatus, where the prescribed tests detailed in the standard will be conducted using the specified techniques.

As per the Quality Control Order for Laboratory Glassware, all "Laboratory Glassware" must adhere to the relevant Indian Standard and display the standard mark (ISI Mark) under a license issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards, as per Scheme-I of Schedule-II of BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations 2018. They cannot be manufactured, traded, sold, stocked, or imported unless they bear the ISI Mark.

MARKING

Labeling and marking products must align with IS 1381 (Part 1): 2003 guidelines. Each package should bear the BIS license number and details of the BIS website. To utilize the standard ISI mark, manufacturers must obtain a BIS license for Narrow-Necked Boiling Flasks from the Bureau of Indian Standards. The Bureau grants BIS licenses to products meeting pertinent Indian standards.
