Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for the Plywood and Wooden Flush Door Shutters (Marine plywood) (Quality Control) Order, 2024.

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has recently issued a Quality Control Order named "Plywood and Wooden Flush Door Shutters (Quality Control) Order, 2024."

This order is scheduled to be effective starting February 28, 2025.

However, for small enterprises as defined under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, it will be enforced starting May 28, 2025, while for micro enterprises, it will apply from August 28, 2025.

According to the directive, Marine plywood must conform to Indian Standard IS 710:2010 and display the Standard Mark with a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. It's crucial to emphasize that this directive excludes goods or items produced domestically for export.

The Bureau of Indian Standards has been designated as the certifying and regulatory authority for Marine plywood as outlined in this directive.

Individuals found violating the provisions of this order will be subject to penalties in accordance with the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
