Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for the Plywood and Wooden Flush Door Shutters (Plywood for general purposes) (Quality Control) Order, 2024.

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has recently released a Quality Control Order titled "Quality Control Order for Plywood and Wooden Flush Door Shutters, 2024."

This order will come into effect starting February 28, 2025.

However, for small enterprises as per the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, it will be enforced from May 28, 2025, while for micro enterprises, it becomes applicable from August 28, 2025.

According to the directive, Plywood for general purposes must conform to the relevant Indian Standard IS 303:1989 and display the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, following Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. It's crucial to highlight that this directive excludes goods or articles produced domestically for export.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is entrusted as the certifying and regulatory body for Plywood for general purposes as outlined in this directive.

Individuals found violating the provisions of this order will be subject to penalties in accordance with the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
