OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has released an extension order named the "Cross Recessed Screws (Quality Control) Order, 2024."

This order will take effect six months from its publication in the Official Gazette.

Cross recessed screws must conform to Indian Standard IS 7485 (Part 1):2018/ISO 7046-1:2011, which specifies countersunk flat head screws (common head style) with Type H or Type Z cross recesses, categorized as Product Grade A Part 1 steel screws of Property Class 4.8. These screws are required to display the Standard Mark, obtained through a license from the Bureau in accordance with Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

This order excludes goods or articles intended for export.

For micro-enterprises, defined in clauses (h) and (m) of section 2 of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), the effective date is twelve months from the publication date. Small enterprises, as defined in the same act, become effective nine months from the publication date.

Enforcement: The Bureau will act as the certifying and enforcing body for Cross Recessed Screws.

Penalties:Any individual found violating the provisions of this order will be subject to penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
