The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has released an extension order named the "Copper Products (Quality Control) Order, 2024."

Effective Dates:

• The implementation date for General (excluding Micro and Small Enterprises) is scheduled for October 19, 2024.

• The implementation date for Small Enterprises is set for January 19, 2025.

• The implementation date for Micro Enterprises is slated for April 19, 2025.

Copper products or items must conform to Indian Standard IS 2501: 1995 (pertaining to solid drawn copper tubes for general engineering applications). They are required to display the Standard Mark under a license obtained from the Bureau, following Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

Exceptions:

• Micro and small enterprises, as outlined in the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), are required to comply with the designated Indian Standards.

• This directive excludes goods or articles meant for domestic production intended for export purposes.
