Dear Reader,
We have crucial announcement concerning the Indian Standard for the Steel and Steel Products (Cold-reduced Electrolytic Tin Plate) (Quality Control) Order, 2024, impacting all current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers.
The Ministry of Steel has issued the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order for 2024, utilizing authority under sections 16, 17, and sub-section (3) of section 25 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016). This Order replaces the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order of 2020 and becomes effective upon publication in the Official Gazette, except for actions undertaken before this replacement.
Under this Order, which applies to steel and steel products, particularly Cold-Reduced Electrolytic Tin Plate, domestically produced steel and steel products are exempt if they meet specifications requested by foreign buyers for export.
Each steel and steel product listed under this Order must comply with the relevant Indian Standard 1993: 2018 without delay upon implementation. Additionally, it must be accompanied by a Test Certificate bearing the Standard Mark issued by a manufacturer certified under the Bureau of Indian Standards.
The Cold-reduced Electrolytic Tin Plate must conform to the Indian Standards outlined in 1993: 2018 and display the Standard Mark authorized by the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme – I of Schedule – II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. Furthermore, each shipment must include a test certificate verifying the input materials.
Additionally, products that meet these specifications must display the Standard Mark under a license granted by the Bureau of Indian Standards as per Scheme – I of Schedule – II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the authority responsible for certifying and enforcing compliance with this Order.
Failure to comply with any provision of this Order is subject to penalties under section 29 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016).
