We have crucial announcement concerning the Indian Standard for the Steel and Steel Products (Specification for Mild Steel and Medium Tensile Steel Bars and Hard–Drawn Steel Wire for Concrete Reinforcement: Part 1 Mild steel and medium tensile steel bars) (Quality Control) Order, 2024 impacting all current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers.
The Ministry of Steel has issued the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2024 under the authority of sections 16, 17, and sub-section (3) of section 25 of the The Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2024, issued under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016), replaces the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2020, and becomes effective upon its publication in the Official Gazette, with the exception of matters already in progress.
This Order applies to steel and steel products, specifically focusing on the Specification for Mild Steel and Medium Tensile Steel Bars and Hard-Drawn Steel Wire for Concrete Reinforcement: Part 1, Mild Steel and Medium Tensile Steel Bars. Domestically manufactured steel and steel products that meet alternative specifications required by foreign buyers for export are exempted under this Order.
Each steel and steel product specified in this Order must comply with the corresponding Indian Standard IS 432 (Part 1): 1982 immediately upon implementation. They must also be accompanied by a Test Certificate bearing the Standard Mark, issued by a manufacturer certified under the Bureau of Indian Standards.
Moreover, products meeting these specifications must display the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, as per Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau of Indian Standards is appointed as the authority responsible for certifying and enforcing compliance with this Order.
Failure to comply with any provision of this Order may result in penalties under section 29 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016).
Any updates or modifications to the Indian Standards mentioned in this Order by the Bureau of Indian Standards will apply to this Order starting from the date of publication by the Bureau.
