GRADES

The substance will be categorized into two grades:

1. Pure:Intended for applications in the rayon and cosmetic sectors

2. Technical:Designed for utilization in textile, soap, vegetable oil refining, paper, and various other industries.

The substance must be available in either lye or solid form, including flakes, blocks, sticks, or pellets. It must be devoid of any foreign particles, dirt, or visible impurities. Upon testing as per designated procedures, the material must comply with the standard's specifications on a dry basis.

PACKING AND MARKING

Packaging and labeling must adhere to the guidelines outlined in IS 252:2013. Delivery of the solution will be in tankers or tank cars. Each container must be tightly sealed and labeled with the required information specified in the standard.

The Caustic Soda packages/containers must bear the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) or have it printed on the label, ensuring compliance with the specifications. Manufacturers are required to obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to utilize the standard mark. This license is granted following a thorough evaluation of manufacturing infrastructure, quality control measures, testing capabilities, and the manufacturing process.
