We have crucial announcement concerning the Indian Standard for the Steel and Steel Products (Continuously pre-painted galvanized steel sheets and coils) (Quality Control) Order, 2024 impacting all current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers.

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Steel has issued the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2024 under the authority granted by the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016. This new order replaces the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2020, and takes effect upon publication in the Official Gazette, except for prior matters.

Under this order, applicable to steel and steel products including Continuously pre-painted galvanized steel sheets and coils, domestically manufactured products meeting specifications required by foreign buyers for export are exempted.

Each steel and steel product listed must conform to Indian Standards 14246: 2013 immediately upon implementation and must be accompanied by a Test Certificate bearing the Standard Mark issued by a manufacturer certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards

Moreover, products meeting the specifications must display the Standard Mark under a license issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards as per Scheme – I of Schedule – II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is appointed as the authority responsible for certifying and enforcing compliance with this Order.

Failure to comply with any provision of this Order is subject to penalties under section 29 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016).

Any changes or updates made by the Bureau of Indian Standards to the specified Indian Standards shall apply to this Order from the date of their publication by the Bureau.
