In today's competitive landscape, maintaining market presence without a certified, high-quality product can be challenging. Obtaining a BIS license may also be essential for selling products in the Indian market. To achieve BIS certification and ensure product quality, manufacturers must adhere to the specified Indian standards.
Lets delve deeper into IS 14887:2014 for HDPE/PP Woven sacks for packaging of food grains.
IS 14887:2014 encompasses HDPE/PP woven sacks designed for packaging food grains. This standard delineates the requisites for woven sacks crafted from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or polypropylene (PP) for the packaging of food grains like rice, wheat, pulses, millet, and similar grains.
According to the material specifications of HDPE or PP, there will be two categories for woven sacks:
Group 1: HDPE woven sacks
Group 2: PP woven sacks
The sacks must adhere to the requirements outlined in the standard. The high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or polypropylene (PP) utilized for the tape must meet the specifications detailed in either IS 10146 or IS 10910. The tape should be manufactured from virgin granules of HDPE or PP.
The fabric employed in HDPE/PP woven sacks must adhere to IS 14887:2014 standards. These sacks are crafted from tubular woven fabric and require stitching at the bottom with two rows of lock or chain-type stitches. Stitching must be conducted using HDPE/PP tape or any other thread suitable for the purpose.
The subsequent test must be conducted for HDPE/PP woven sacks for packing food grains.
Dimensional test
Tenacity test
Heat shrinkage test
Breaking strength test
UV resistance test
Ash content and some others test
An appropriately maintained laboratory is necessary for conducting various tests in accordance with the methods outlined in the standard.
The printing on sacks must adhere to the specifications outlined in IS 14887:2014. Printing, packaging, and marking should be conducted in accordance with the relevant standards. Each bale containing HDPE/PP sacks may also bear a standard mark (ISI Mark). Manufacturers are required to obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to utilize the standard mark (ISI Mark). This license is granted following a thorough assessment of manufacturing infrastructure, quality control and testing capabilities, and production processes.
Product Name | IS Number |
---|---|
HDPE PP Woven Sacks for Filling Sand | IS 14252:2015 |
HDPE PP Woven Sacks for Packaging Sugar | IS 14968:2015 |
HDPE PP Woven Sacks for Food Grains | IS 16208:2015 |
Acquiring a BIS license requires a comprehensive review of manufacturing infrastructure, quality control abilities, testing resources, and production procedures. This thorough assessment guarantees that products not only adhere to regulations but also prioritize consumer safety and reliability.
