The National Centre for Communication Security (NCCS), Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, through an Office Memorandum dated 7 July 2025, has extended the exemption granted to cloud-based IP routers and Wi-Fi CPEs from mandatory security certification.

• Earlier, exemptions were provided under notifications dated 29 November 2024 and 13 December 2024, valid until 31 May 2025.

• This exemption period has now been extended until 31 March 2026.

• During this period, such products will not be required to undergo mandatory security testing.

• The decision has been issued with the approval of the Sr. DDG, NCCS.

• For OEMs & Importers: Provides additional time to align products with future certification requirements without immediate compliance costs.

• For Service Providers: Ensures continuity in the use of cloud-implemented routers and Wi-Fi CPEs without disruption.

• Overall: This extension supports ease of doing business and encourages wider deployment of cloud-enabled communication technologies while balancing regulatory needs.
