OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued a Quality Control Order named the "Insulated Flask, Bottles, and Containers for Domestic Use (Quality Control) Order, 2024."

This order will be enforced three months after its publication, with compliance timelines staggered based on the classification of enterprises under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006.

According to this order, products categorized as insulated flasks, bottles, or containers for domestic use must meet the Indian Standard IS 17526:2021 for Domestic Stainless Steel Vacuum Flask/Bottle. These items must display the Standard Mark and obtain a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

It's crucial to note that this order excludes goods or articles manufactured domestically for export purposes or those produced by enterprises meeting specific criteria established by the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and regulatory authority for products associated with Water Meters and Accessories.

Violations of this order will be subject to penalties as stipulated in the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
