Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for the Insulated Flask, Bottles, and Containers for Domestic Use (Insulated Container for Food Storage) (Quality Control) Order, 2024.

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has released a Quality Control Order named the "Insulated Flask, Bottles, and Containers for Domestic Use (Quality Control) Order, 2024."

This order will be effective three months after its publication, with compliance timelines staggered according to enterprise classification under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006.

Under this order, products classified as insulated flasks, bottles, or containers for domestic use must comply with Indian Standard IS 17569:2021 for Insulated Containers for Food Storage. These items must display the Standard Mark and obtain a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

It's important to note that this order excludes goods or articles manufactured domestically for export purposes or those produced by enterprises meeting specific criteria set by the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and regulatory authority for products associated with Water Meters and Accessories.

Violations of this order will be subject to penalties as stipulated in the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
