BIS Quality Control Amendment Order for the Sodium Tripolyphosphate

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has announced the Sodium Tripolyphosphate (Quality Control) Amendment Order for 2024.

Starting from March 13, 2025, this directive applies specifically to products or items containing Sodium Tripolyphosphate. It's noteworthy that this regulation excludes products or items designated for export from its provisions.

Products or items containing Sodium Tripolyphosphate are required to comply with the Indian Standard IS 6100:1984, which was reaffirmed in 2015. They must display the Standard Mark and obtain a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The Bureau of Indian Standards has been assigned the role of the certifying and regulatory authority for the products or items outlined in this directive.

Any person found violating the provisions of this order will face penalties under the applicable legislation.
