It also extends to appliances utilized in settings like shops, light industry, and farms, posing potential risks to the public despite not being primarily intended for household use.

Immersion heaters are typically constructed by enclosing a resistance heating wire within a ceramic jacket and surrounding it with a sheath. These sheaths can be crafted from various materials including copper, stainless steel, cast iron, titanium, or PFA coating.

REQUIRED TESTS

The specified tests must be conducted for electric immersion water heater.

The following classification shall be taken into account for GoL:

1. Group I - up to and including 1000 W

2. Group II - above 1000 W

Manufacturers are required to specify the Electric Immersion Water Heater types they seek to include under the BIS License. Labeling and marking procedures must align with IS 302 (Part 2/Sec 201):2008 requirements. Compliance with the standard's specifications is necessary, and the product may bear the Standard Mark (ISI Mark). To utilize the ISI Mark, manufacturers must obtain a BIS license, which involves an evaluation of their manufacturing infrastructure, production processes, and quality control and testing capabilities by the Bureau of Indian Standards.

Manufacturers are required to acquire a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to affix the standard mark (ISI Mark) on electric immersion water heaters. This license is granted following a thorough evaluation of the manufacturer's manufacturing infrastructure, production process, and quality control and testing capabilities, typically conducted through an on-site visit to their manufacturing premises.
