Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for the Agro Textiles (Fencing nets (extruded polymer)) (Quality Control) Order, 2024.

BIS Amendment Order for the Agro Textiles (Fencing nets (extruded polymer))

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Textiles has issued the Agro Textiles (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024, which is slated to come into force on July 1, 2024.

This directive applies specifically to products known as Fencing Nets (extruded polymer). Importantly, it does not cover items intended for export.

The designated products, Fencing Nets (extruded polymer), must comply with the applicable Indian Standard IS 17358 (Part 1): 2020 (Agro textiles — Specifications for Fencing Nets used in agriculture and horticulture — Part 1: Nets made from extruded polymer mesh).

Moreover, these products must display the Standard Mark acquired via a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, in accordance with the procedures outlined in Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is appointed as the certifying and regulatory authority for the specified products, Fencing Nets (extruded polymer).

Anyone found violating the provisions of this Order will face penalties as per the regulations stipulated in the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016).
