Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for the Agro Textiles (Non - Woven mulch mat) (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024.

OVERVIEW

As per the latest directive from the Ministry of Textiles, the Agro Textiles (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024 has been issued and is set to be implemented starting from July 1, 2024.

This directive specifically applies to products referred to as Non-Woven Mulch Mats. It's crucial to note that this directive does not cover items intended for export.

The designated products, Non-Woven Mulch Mats, must conform to the applicable Indian Standard IS 17355:2020 (Agro Textiles — Specifications for Propylene Spun Bonded Non-Woven Mulch Mats used in agriculture and horticulture).

Moreover, these products must display the Standard Mark acquired via a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, in accordance with the procedures outlined in Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is appointed as the certifying and regulatory authority for the specified products, Non-Woven Mulch Mats.

Anyone found violating the provisions of this Order will face penalties as per the regulations stipulated in the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016).
