Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for the Agro Textiles (Harvest nets) (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024.

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Textiles has issued the Agro Textiles (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024, which is slated to come into force on July 1, 2024.

This directive pertains specifically to products known as Harvest Nets. It is crucial to note that this directive does not apply to items intended for export.

The designated products, Harvest Nets, must conform to the applicable Indian Standard IS 17357:2020 (Agro Textiles — Specifications for Harvest Nets used in agriculture and horticulture).

Moreover, these products must display the Standard Mark acquired via a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, in accordance with the procedures outlined in Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is appointed as the certifying and regulatory authority for the specified products, Harvest Nets.

Anyone found violating the provisions of this Order will face penalties as per the regulations stipulated in the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016).
