Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for the Agro Textiles (Plant Support Nets) (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024.

BIS Amendment Order for the Agro Textiles (Plant Support Nets)

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Textiles has issued the Agro Textiles (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024, which is slated to come into force on July 1, 2024.

This directive applies specifically to products known as Plant Support Nets. Importantly, it does not cover items intended for export.

The designated products, Plant Support Nets, must conform to the applicable Indian Standard IS 17513:2020 (Agro Textiles — Specifications for Plant Support Nets used in Agriculture and Horticulture).

Moreover, these products must display the Standard Mark acquired via a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, in accordance with the procedures outlined in Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and regulatory authority for the specified products, Plant Support Nets.

Anyone found violating the provisions of this Order will face penalties as per the regulations stipulated in the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016).
