We have crucial announcement concerning the Indian Standard for the Electrical Appliance for Domestic Clothes Washing (Quality Control) Order, 2023 impacting all current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers.

OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued a Quality Control Order known as the "Domestic Clothes Washing Electrical Appliance (Quality Control) Order, 2023."
It will be enforceable six months after its publication in the Official Gazette.
According to this order, all electrical appliances intended for domestic clothes washing must adhere to Indian Standard 302 (Part 2 or Sec 7): 2010 and prominently feature the Standard Mark. This requires obtaining a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-1 as specified in Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations from 2018.
However, it is important to note that this order excludes goods or articles produced domestically for export purposes.
However, for small enterprises defined under clauses (h) and (m) of section 2 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), it will be effective nine months after publication.
Likewise, for micro-enterprises defined under the same clauses of the aforementioned Act, it will take effect twelve months after publication.
The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the authority responsible for certifying and enforcing compliance with the goods or articles specified in this order.
Any individual or entity found contravening this order may face penalties according to the provisions stated in the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
