The Central Marks Department-III has announced a crucial update on 29th November 2024 regarding the safety standards for household and similar electrical appliances. The concurrent running period for IS 302-1: 2008 and the revised IS 302 (Part 1): 2024/IEC 60335-1: 2020 standards has been extended, providing manufacturers with additional time to transition to the updated safety requirements.

IS 302-1: 2008: Sixth revision for safety requirements of household electrical appliances.
IS 302 (Part 1): 2024/IEC 60335-1: 2020: Seventh revision, aligning Indian standards with global safety benchmarks for enhanced reliability.
New Deadline: The original deadline for implementing the IS 302 (Part 1): 2024/IEC 60335-1: 2020 standard, set for February 23, 2025, has now been extended to February 23, 2026. This extension allows both standards to remain valid during this period, providing manufacturers the necessary time to comply with the revised requirements.
Implementation Responsibility: Branch offices are tasked with notifying licensees and applicants about the extension and ensuring that the updated standards are fully implemented by the new deadline.
