The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has announced updates regarding the implementation of "Essential Requirements for Security of CCTV," in line with the Public Procurement (Preference to Make in India) Order, 2017 (PPO). The update outlines the acceptance of test reports from laboratories recognized under the Standardization Testing and Quality Certification (STQC) scheme. Empaneled STQC Laboratories: BIS has empaneled 14 laboratories under the STQC scheme for testing CCTV security requirements. The list is available on crsbis.in and lims.bis.gov.in. This ensures a streamlined process for testing and compliance with CCTV security standards. Acceptance of Test Reports Issued Before Empanelment:Pre-Empanelment Test Reports: Test reports issued by STQC labs before their recognition date will be accepted for CCTV security requirements. Samples Under Testing: Test reports for samples submitted before lab recognition, still in process, will also be accepted once issued. Simplified Submission Process:Applicants can generate test requests as per the standard procedure. STQC laboratories will attach the required reports to the LIMS without additional testing. These reports can then be submitted to BIS for compliance. The new guidelines allow the industry to use pre-existing test reports, reducing delays in the certification process. Manufacturers and licensees can now leverage these updates to ensure timely compliance with CCTV security requirements. This BIS update introduces flexibility for manufacturers by accepting pre-empanelment test reports, ensuring smoother compliance with security standards for CCTV systems. Industry stakeholders should utilize this streamlined process to stay compliant with BIS guidelines.
