Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for the Kitchen Appliances (Hand-held Blenders) (Quality Control) Order, 2018.

OVERVIEW

The BIS Kitchen Appliances (Quality Control) Order, 2018" has been issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and will come into effect on May 1, 2019.

Under this order, Hand-held Blenders must comply with Indian Standard IS 302: Part 2: Section 14 (Safety of household and similar electrical appliances: Part 2 Specific requirements Section 14 Electric kitchen machines) and display the Standard Mark. Manufacturers are required to obtain a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to ensure compliance.

It is essential to note that this order applies to the import and manufacture of Hand-held Blenders for use within India.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is responsible for both certifying and enforcing compliance for Hand-held Blenders.

Any breach of this order will incur penalties as per the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.

This regulation aims to maintain the quality and safety of Hand-held Blenders in the market, fostering standardized practices and protecting consumers.
