Below is the Wood Based Products (Quality Control) Order, 2024:

The order will come into effect on February 11, 2025. However, for small enterprises and micro enterprises under the MSME Development Act, 2006, the effective dates will be May 11, 2025, and August 11, 2025, respectively.

Sample Collection and Testing: Product samples are sealed, barcoded, and registered online. The sample is tested at a BIS-designated laboratory, with results tracked through the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
License Grant: After successful testing and verification, the license is issued. The remaining 50% of the minimum marking fee must be deposited within seven days.
Product Marking: Once licensed, products can carry the ISI mark, indicating compliance with Indian Standards.
Process for Foreign Manufacturers: An Authorized Indian Representative (AIR) must be appointed to handle the registration. The manufacturer must also submit an Agreement, Indemnity Bond, and a $10,000 Bank Guarantee to BIS as per the official format.
