We have crucial announcement concerning the Indian Standard for the Cycle and Rickshaw Tyres and Tubes (Cycle and Rickshaw Pneumatic Tyres) (Quality Control) Order, 2023, impacting all current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers.

OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has recently issued the Cycle and Rickshaw Tyres and Tubes (Quality Control) Order, 2023, which will come into force six months after its publication in the Official Gazette.
Products classified as Cycle and Rickshaw Tyres and Tubes must comply with Indian Standard 2414:2014 (Cycle and Rickshaw Pneumatic Tyres) and prominently display the Standard Mark. This requires obtaining a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations for 2018.
This order does not apply to goods manufactured domestically for export purposes.
For micro-enterprises, this requirement becomes effective twelve months after the publication date. Small enterprises, as per the same order, must comply within nine months from the publication date.
The Bureau of Indian Standards serves as the certifying and enforcing authority for Cycle and Rickshaw Tyres and Tubes.
Non-compliance with this order may result in penalties as per the provisions outlined in the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.

Implementation Dates: Effective six months after its publication
As per the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, this requirement takes effect after nine months for small enterprises and after twelve months for micro-enterprises from the publication date.
