We have crucial announcement concerning the Indian Standard for the Key locks for security equipment (Quality Control) Order, 2023, impacting all current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers.

OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Commerce & Industry has introduced a Quality Control Order titled the Key Locks (Quality Control) Order, 2023.
This order will take effect six months after its publication in the Official Gazette.
Products like Key Locks must comply with Indian Standard 17566:2021 (Key locks for security equipment) and display the Standard Mark issued under Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018, after obtaining a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards.
This Order does not apply to goods or articles manufactured domestically for the purpose of export.
Micro and small enterprises, as defined by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, are granted exemptions from these provisions for twelve months and nine months, respectively, starting from the date of publication of this notification.
The Bureau of Indian Standards has been appointed as the certifying and regulatory authority for Key Locks under this Order.
Non-compliance with this Order may lead to penalties under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
